Medicine X | Ed 2015 - Emily Kramer-Golinkoff

Medicine X ePatient Emily Kramer-Golinkoff discusses how patients and their families can “hack the system” to infuse health care with an urgency, laser focus and humanity that can help us all dream big by starting small.

Emily talks about how her foundation, Emily's Entourage (www.emilysentourage.org), is hacking the biomedical system to fast-track new treatments and a cure for her rare nonsense mutation of Cystic Fibrosis. Drawing on her experience with advanced stage Cystic Fibrosis, Emily talks about how patients and families with serious illness have a superpower. They can infuse the biomedical system with an urgency, humanity and laser focus that brings together stakeholders from all different areas of health care to work collaboratively and pump out breakthroughs fast.

Emily that was a wonderful talk. As a caregiver to a young adult with severe traumatic brain injury I can totally relate to your world. Science and researchers can learn so much from survivors/caregivers they just have to listen and changing that situation is huge. You are making a difference for all chronic conditions. Keep up the good work.
